Hello Valued and Interested Volunteers!
NEW TO HABITAT FOR HUMANITY!!
We are very pleased to annouce we are working with profesionals in many trades who are willing to offer some on site and off site training classes to volunteers. With the help of contractors we are hoping to offer training sessions in the following trades: tiling, electrical work, drywall, finish carpentry, flooring, cabinet installation, and plumbing. Our first class is for tiling and is scheduled for Saturday, June 2, 2012, at 10am. We will be posting dates as we confirm the schedule for future training classes. Please contact Isabelle Accornero at i.accornero@habitatsoco.org so we can contact you once the schedule is set.
Habitat for Humanity is current working on an exciting project that began in June, 2011 building two homes in Sebastopol at 842 and 846 Litchfield Avenue. We are eager to get the project complete and have our partner families move in.
We are also very excited to annouce that we have launched our Neighborhood Improvement Program and have started to remodel our first rehab home. This home is located 1536 west 3rd st, Santa Rosa. Please take a look at specific dates to see what will be going on so you can learn some new skills from proffesionals. This is a chance for hands on experience for do it yourselfers.
I would like to encourage everyone to attend a HabiTalk which is held every third Thursday of the month, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Habitat Office, 3273 Airway Drive, Suite E, Santa Rosa. It is a great way to learn more about the history and work of Habitat for Humanity and find out more about volunteer opportunities.
All volunteers new to the Litchfield build and or West 3rd Rehab will need to sign a waiver of liability and a medical form. The forms can be found at our website at http://www.habitatsoco.org/volunteer-2 . Anyone between 16 and 18 years of age, needs to have a Minor Waiver and Liability form signed by a parent in order in volunteer on the build site.
We are in NEED of experienced volunteers for electrical and tiling. If you have these skills, please contact me directly at 495-8056.
Work Attire: Please make sure to wear sturdy closed toe shoes and no tank tops.
RESTORE VOLUNTEERS
In addition to construction crews, we also need volunteers to work at ReStore, our discount home improvement outlet that exists to help fund the building of Habitat homes. Opportunities at ReStore range from graphic design to customer service, from inventory management to retail display.
Volunteer Orientation Sessions for ReStore are held the second Thursday of each month (except the February Orientation, which is Feb. 27) at 10 a.m. Sign up for the session of your choice below.
I would like to thank you all for volunteering with Habitat for Humanity and look forward to working with you.
